High temperatures affected most of the country this Tuesday, with more than 30 degrees Celsius in 17 provinces and peaks of 40 in areas of Santiago del Estero, Cordoba and La Rioja, while in the city of Buenos Aires the temperature reached 36.1 degrees, a record for this time of the year.

The SMN reported this Tuesday that at 2:45 p.m. the temperature in the City of Buenos Aires “reached 35.7C, a new record for this month”, since “the previous maximum mark was 35.6C in 2014.” An hour later, the mark arrived in the capital of the country at 36.1 degrees.

“This week will be the first of intense heat of the season. According to the projection of the SMN, temperatures will continue high in the City until Saturday, when a maximum of 29 degrees is expected, a day where a slight decrease in thermal marks will begin that on the first day of next week will oscillate between 16 and 21 degrees.

Tips for dealing with the heat

In this situation, it is advisable to follow the recommendations provided by the Ministry of Health such as drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcoholic and sugary drinks, not exposing yourself to the sun for a long time between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., eating lightly, reducing physical activity, wearing clothing lightweight and light-colored, like a hat and to be kept in ventilated or conditioned spaces.

The coastline and northeast of the country have similar characteristics to the Pampas region, with maximum temperatures between 33C and 35C and minimum temperatures reaching or exceeding 20C.

Meanwhile, the central west provinces (La Rioja, Catamarca, Cordoba, Santiago del Estero, Mendoza) will have higher temperatures, located between 35C and 40C, and minimums that reach 20C.

As of Thursday, specific short-term storms are expected in this area that will temporarily reduce temperatures, but the warm air mass will continue.

Meanwhile, for Wednesday a temperature that exceeds 20C is expected in some towns in the east of the province of Santa Cruz, accompanied by a high thermal amplitude, and on Friday the thermal marks will begin to drop.

On the other hand, in the north of the province of San Luis, east of La Rioja and Catamarca and west of Crdoba there is a yellow alert for northeast winds, with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour for this day.

In addition, some areas of the provinces of Chubut and Santa Cruz, which have had strong winds for three days, are on an orange alert.
