School students of the City of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Formosa and Misiones they will launch their satellites on a rocket on Tuesday November 1, in Cordobato meet the objectives of the space missions that they designed and were winners of the Cansat Argentina competitionorganized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT) and the National Commission for Space Activities (Conae) to bring young people closer to space activity.
The event will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus, and the Executive and Technical Director of Conea, Raúl Kulichevsky, among other national and provincial authorities.
“After overcoming different instances of the competition, five teams reached the final, whose Cansat must fulfill the primary mission proposed by Conea: measurement of pressure and temperature during the time in flight, and the transmission of these data to the ground station, at least once a second. They will also fulfill a specific secondary mission designed by the students,” a MINCyT statement reported.
The Cansat satellites will be launched from Conae’s Teófilo Tabanera Space Center (CETT) in the town of Falda del Cañete, in the province of Córdoba, aboard a Skytec company rocket 1.10 m high and 80 mm diameter.
Once they reach their apogee, up to about 300 meters high, the Cansat will detach from the launcher and begin to fulfill their missions.. From that moment on, the students will be able to check the operation of their payloads and perform tests and measurements, with the support of professionals from Conae and UTN, the official information added.

The winning teams:
“Caelus”, of the Technical School No. 9 DE 7 “Ing. Luis A. Cansat is a competition promoted by the main space agencies in the world, such as NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), which are organized in Argentina by the MINCyT and Conae to bring young people closer to space activity, in line with the National Space Plan carried out by the Argentine space agency, the statement said.
The proposal consists of reproducing to scale the entire process by which a satellite is designed, built, tested, launched and operated, the size of which does not exceed that of a soda can – hence the term CAN (can) and SAT (satellite). ), for its acronym in English -, and launch it in a rocket, he added.
The Cansat competition started last June, with 850 registered teams from secondary schools from all provinces of the country.
In total, 4,500 students received training from professionals from Conae and the National Technological University (UTN), in order to acquire the knowledge, tools and materials necessary to carry out the development of the project.
