Estudiantes squandered a two-goal lead and tied with Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero 2-2 in La Plata in a match on the seventh date of the Professional League.

For the local they marked Leandro Díaz (11m.) and the Uruguayan Manuel Castro (36m.) in the first time; while for the visit Gonzalo Torres discounted before the break (46m.) and Alejandro Martínez equalized (22m.)penalty in the second stage.

Estudiantes, brand new Copa Libertadores quarterfinalists, cut a streak of three consecutive losses in the LPF, although they have gone four games without a win.

Central Córdoba, who had been losing at home to Argentinos Juniors, faced this match with interim DT (Adrián Adrover) after the departure of Sergio Rondina.

A dynamic and entertaining first half was played in La Plata, with two chances for each one in the first minutes. From the outset, the people from Santiago were surprised, but González Metilli failed in the definition with Andújar out of action. At 6, Toselli took a left-footed shot from Zapiola and a minute later the goalkeeper excelled against a header from Lollo.

At 8 minutes the visitors built a good counter with Martínez on the left that Leguizamón finished badly. Two minutes later, Zapiola pressed Gómez on one side, won the position, built a good individual action and enabled Díaz who only had to push it for the far post to make it 1-0.

Students became dominant, adjusted marks and at 35 Díaz fought it in the middle, assisted Castro, who lowered it from the chest and with a strong right hand made it 2 to 0

In the end, Díaz wasted a clear chance for the third and against Metilli enabled Torres who headed, Andújar rebounded and then pushed it to the goal for discount.

In the complement everything was similar. Students in attack and Central Córdoba stopped against. Zielinski’s men lacked finishing ability and against 18 they were badly stopped, Más committed a penalty against Montes and Martínez changed it for a goal and draw.

Students searched and searched but lacked precision and was always exposed to the rival response. Heredia had two clear chances, which he defined poorly, Diaz had a couple and the last one Zuqui finished off over the crossbar.
