Students beat Bragantino and lead Group C alone

Estudiantes de La Plata beat Bragantino 2-0 on Tuesday with goals from Uruguayan Agustín Rogel and Mauro Boselli on the third day of Group C of the Copa Libertadores and alone assumed the leadership of the area.

The Brazilians, for their part, beat the Uruguayans and tied with Vélez in Argentina.

Estudiantes and Bragantino shared the ball during the first 45 minutes, but it was the locals who managed to step on the rival area more times.

After 3 minutes, Gustavo Del Prete was left alone in front of the goalkeeper but he finished over the crossbar.

At 33 the Argentines claimed a goal when goalkeeper Cleiton deflected a Boselli header over the goal line. After the goalkeeper’s save, Rogel kicked inside the area with the goalkeeper lying on the floor, but his shot hit the post.

Shortly after, Pincha midfielder Matías Pellegrini was replaced due to injury and Leandro Díaz joined in his place.

The 1-0 came after 54 minutes, when Rogel headed in the small area after a corner kick and a previous header.

The defender thus reached his fourth goal in this Copa Libertadores and became the top scorer for Estudiantes de La Plata in the competition.

Five minutes later, Boselli, 36, scored a great goal by chipping the ball from the first-choice goalkeeper from outside the area.

The striker, an idol of Pincha, reached 70 goals with the team from La Plata.
