The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro once again shows his support for Russia and his counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Bolivarian leader has insisted this Friday on the message that he has transmitted since the beginning of the war. As he has hinted, the West wants to go to war to “dismember” Russia and thus end the “hope” of a “multipolar” world.
“From Venezuela we denounce it, The West wants to go to a war to dismember Russia, break it into pieces, destroy it and end the hope of a multipolar world where we can all live.Maduro has proclaimed in a message broadcast through the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
According to the Venezuelan president, The West “is lining up economically, politically, diplomatically and militarily to go to a great war against Russia”. Maduro, in fact, has concluded that Western countries are taking steps to “justify an escalation that could lead to a disastrous war, a third world war.”
Venezuela’s rejection of the UN decision
Venezuela has shown itself since the beginning of Russia’s offensive against Ukraine on the side of Putin and this Thursday once again demonstrated its support by rejecting the decision made by the UN to suspend Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council for the abuses committed during his offensive in the Ukrainian country.
“As a founding member of the United Nations Organization, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates its commitment to the principles and mandate of its Founding Charter and rejects the decision to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council,” Maduro said in this regard.
Links between Venezuela and Russia
With this position and these statements, Maduro further strengthens Venezuela’s ties with Russia. And it is that Relations between Moscow and Caracas are based on military and economic cooperation. Russia has lent around 17,000 million dollars to the Bolivarian Executive since 2006, making the Venezuelan country one of its largest creditors.
Also, the two countries are linked in the energy sector. In 2017, the Russian oil company Rosneft founded a business association with the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, of which it owns 51%. For now, the war in Ukraine has not weakened the ties between Russia and Venezuela.
