The northern and northeastern provinces of the country are under yellow alert for storms, with the exception of a part of Salta and Jujuy where the Orange alertas reported by the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
In the localities of the Punas de Cochinoca, Humahuaca, Rinconada, Santa Catalina, Tilcara, Tumbaya and Yavi, in Jujuy; and in the city of Salta, Cerrillos, Guachipas, La Viña, the lower areas of Chicoana, La Caldera, Rosario de Lerma and the mountainous area of Cafayate, in Salta, there is an orange alert for storms.
That warning means weather phenomena are expected dangerous to society, life, property and the environmentindicated the SMN.
Meanwhile, the indicated areas will be affected by strong storms, which may be accompanied by intense gusts, occasional hail, strong electrical activity and, fundamentally, abundant rainfall in short periods of time.
Accumulated precipitation values between 50 and 70 millimeters are expected, and may be exceeded locally in the areas under orange alert.
On the other hand there is yellow alert by storms for the towns of Puna de Tinogasta, Puna de Antofagasta de la Sierra, Puna de Belén, Puna de Cafayate, Puna de San Carlos, Puna de Santa María and Puna de Tafí del Valle, in Catamarca.
The same as for the provinces of Tucumán and Santiago del Estero, the north of Córdoba, Formosa, Chaco, the north and center of Santa Fe, Corrientes and Misiones.
The yellow alert level implies possible meteorological phenomena with capacity for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities.
The meteorological agency indicated that the area will be affected by isolated storms, “some of which may be locally strong, accompanied by intense gusts, occasional hail, strong electrical activity and abundant rainfall in short periods of time.”
Accumulated precipitation values between 15 and 40 millimeters are expected, and may be exceeded locally for the area under yellow alert.
