The Federal Supreme Court (STF) scheduled for November 8 this year a new conciliation hearing between representatives of the federal government and Pernambuco on the dispute over ownership of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago.
At the meeting held today (9), representatives of the parties resumed the conciliation negotiations and will hold internal meetings to address environmental and obligation issues to present a proposal in November.
In the lawsuit filed with the STF in March of this year, the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) argues that the state government is not complying with an agreement entered into with the Union in 2002.
Among the questions questioned is the alleged authorization for hotel constructions on the beach strip without authorization from the Secretary of Heritage of the Union (SPU).
On the other hand, the government of Pernambuco argues that Fernando de Noronha was incorporated into the state by determination of the Constitution and that the action in the STF should be rejected.
