Within the framework of the Ninth Summit of the Americas, the First Lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, held a bilateral meeting with the First Lady of Ecuador, María de Lourdes Alcívar, in order to share experiences and learn a little more about the projects and programs carried out by both Firms.

Colón de Cortizo and Alcívar de Lasso have actively participated in the vaccination processes of both countries, leading efforts to bring vaccines to the greatest number of citizens. In this bilateral meeting, issues related to policies on the Comprehensive Protection of Early Childhood were addressed, in that sense, both Panama and Ecuador are making significant efforts to guarantee improvements in the quality of life of expectant mothers and their children from 0 up to 8 years old.

Likewise, one of the most relevant topics during the meeting was the topic of education. The first lady of Panama expressed that education is the best social leveler in the world and therefore it is one of her priorities. Colón de Cortizo took the opportunity to present to the first lady of Ecuador her initiatives, plans and programs to promote the STEAM methodology in official educational establishments.

In addition, the first lady of Panama extended an invitation to Alcívar de Lasso to initiate joint efforts to guarantee Ecuador’s participation in the 2023 World Robotics Olympics, through the implementation of an online STEAM Education Diploma, with the support of FUNDESTEAM, aimed at teachers in Ecuador.
