State of Río Negro cut the bridges that connect Cipolletti and Neuquén

Workers in a column in the State Workers Association (ATE) of Río Negro cut the bridges that connect the city of Cipolletti with Neuquén and occupied the headquarters of the Public Service Council in Viedma, on the second day of a 48-hour strike that they carry out in that Patagonian province.

The union reported that it is demanding “a salary proposal that contemplates a greater percentage impact on March salaries, shorter terms for the liquidation of the semi-annual guideline and additional anti-inflationary measures.”

The mobilized workers also demand “the payment of all owed reclassifications; increase in the value of overtime hours and recognition of the additional mobility for school porters; increase in the value of the guard point; recognition of the Insalubrity Law; a system early retirement for hospital staff and a bonus for heating for the agents of the Southern Line, Bariloche and El Bolsón”.

During the joint meeting on February 22 lastthe Government of Rio Negro had offered a salary increase of 21% spread over four months, to be collected from April, which was rejected.

During this Thursday the 716 school establishments will continue to be out of operation, public hospitals return to attend only emergencies that cannot be postponed on duty, as well as the services of the Provincial Institute of Health Insurance (Ipross), within the framework of the second day of a measure of force arranged by the union.

The strike reaches the care centers for children, adolescents and older adults of the SeNAF and the Ministry of Human Development, where only exceptional care is guaranteed.

As reported from the union organization, “the decision was adopted during the last hours by the assemblies, which decided to intensify the plan of struggle in the face of official isolation.”

The protest began last Wednesday together with the Union of Education Workers of Río Negro UnTER and the CTA of the Workerswith demonstrations in the cities of Viedma, General Roca and Bariloche.

The deputy secretary of ATE, Leticia Lapalma, told Télam that “this forceful measure is carried out in the absence of a new joint meeting being called by the Public Function Table.”

In addition, the claim has to do with agreements that are being breached for the union, “not only do we reject the salary offer, but we ask that all the issues raised, such as the Unhealthy Law, be complied with,” said the union member.
