Persons 18 years of age and older, who have completed a minimum interval of four months from the application of the third dose in Paraguay or abroad, may receive the second booster dose (fourth dose).
The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare informs that from next Monday, June 06, the second booster dose (fourth dose) of vaccines against COVID-19 will be applied to all people who are pending vaccination. , as long as they have fulfilled the minimum interval of four months.
In this context, the health portfolio recalls that vaccination is a fundamental tool to deal with this disease, therefore, people are urged to take advantage of the available doses and complete their vaccination schedule, which currently in Paraguay is three doses in those over 12 years old and with two doses, in children between 5 and 11 years old, exposes the radio station 1000 am and its portal.
According to the figures for the week, a total of 3,908,370 people received the first anticovid dose, which corresponds to 58%, the second dose was applied to some 3,422,735, equivalent to 51%, while, the third dose reaches 21%, that is, 1,411,077 people were vaccinated with the first booster (third dose).
Regarding the age group from 5 to 11 years, of the 260,251 vaccinated with the first dose, only 144,511 received the second dose, which means that they have not completed the minimum dose to be protected against the disease in serious cases and decrease the probability of admission.
Therefore, it is important that parents and/or guardians become aware of the importance of immunizing children and protecting them from the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Among the departments with the best or highest rates of vaccination with the three minimum doses are Capital (54%), Ñeembucú (31%), Alto Paraguay (28%), and Misiones and Central (25%). This shows that immunization must continue to be strengthened in all other regions of the country.
