Pedro Sánchez is in a position to continue being president of Spain. The socialist candidate has achieved great success by turning around the expectations that predicted a great victory for the PP and the possibility that he would add seats above 176 seats to form a government of the right and the extreme right
Alberto Núñez Feijóo has won the elections according to the provisional count in Spain, but far from the majority he wanted and the one he would need to join Vox. His victory is bitter, because he is not going to get Pedro Sánchez (PSOE) out of Moncloa.
The PP has won the elections this sunday in Spain, with 99% of the vote counted, by obtaining 136 seats, 47 more than those it achieved in 2019, and the Socialist Party (PSOE) remained as the second political force with 122 seats, two more than in the previous elections, although the result complicates the possibility of forming a Government.
None of the right and left blocks have enough representatives in principle to reach an absolute majority (176 seats) in the first round of an investiture or a simple one in a second with more votes in favor than against.
According to analyst projections, the current Prime Minister would be in a position to reissue the coalition with Sumar and seek an agreement with separatist parties such as ERC, Bildu and PNV, which already facilitated his investiture in 2019.
If that agreement is not reached, the elections should be repeated, probably, in the month of December, which would mean that there is no government until March or April. For that, a failed investiture is necessary.
The only difference is that he would probably need Junts, Carles Puigdemont’s party. Said awning already said that “we will not make Sánchez president in exchange for nothing.”
The PSOE has been in the count at many times above the PP, even in votes at the time when the popular ones surpassed them in seats.

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, assured on his Twitter account that he wants to form a government and will initiate dialogues with the rest of the political parties. “I ask for responsibility so that Spain does not suffer blockades.”

In his appearance on the balcony of the PP headquarters on Calle de Génova, in Madrid, he said: «I will start with what I think is the most important message of the night: seven years after our last victory in the general elections, the PP has won the general elections again. I feel very proud, very proud.”
«The Spanish know that we have gone from being the second force, with 89 deputies, to being the most voted party with 136 seats, 136 deputies. We have gone from less than 21% voting percentage to 33%. We have won in 40 of the 52 provinces and autonomous cities of Spain and we have a large majority that is probably an absolute majority in the Senate. Never, never before has our party risen with such intensity in a general election. We surpassed the PSOE in votes and in seats, and while the PP rose 47 seats, the coalition government has not won a single seat in relation to the previous elections,” Feijóo added, while the thousands of people who have approached the headquarters shouted “Txapote vote for you!”
“Friends, we have obtained a result that a little over a year and a half ago seemed impossible,” Feijóo continued. “We have obtained eight million votes, three million more than in the last general ones,” he said.
“What is our obligation now? Our obligation now is that a period of uncertainty does not open up in Spain. The Spaniards today have given us confidence in the PP and have also told all the parties in the parliamentary arc to dialogue. As the candidate of the most voted party, I believe that my duty is to open the dialogue to lead this dialogue from the first minute and try to govern our country according to the electoral results and the electoral victory, “he pointed out.
Participation in the general elections this Sunday in Spain was 70.18%, almost four points more than the figures registered in the previous elections on November 10, 2019, when it reached 66.23%.
