Racing and Independiente already know the rivals they will face in the group stage of the 2022 Copa Sudamericana after the draw held in Luque, Paraguay, at the Conmebol headquarters.
The “Academy” is part of Group B as the top seed together with Melgar from Peru, River Plate from Uruguay and Cuaibá from Brazil.
For its part, “Rojo”, as the top seed in group G, will face Deportivo La Guaira from Venezuela, Ceará from Brazil and General Caballero from Paraguay.
The Avellaneda clubs will not be the only Argentine teams in the new edition of the Copa Sudamericana.
Lanús, leader of group A and champion in the 2013 edition, will play against Montevideo Wanderers from Uruguay, Metropolitanos from Venezuela and Barcelona from Ecuador.
Banfield will be part of group C together with Santos from Brazil, Unión La Calera from Chile and Universidad Católica from Ecuador.
Defense and Justice, champion in 2020, will be in group F together with Liga de Quito from Ecuador, Atlético Goaianiense from Brazil and Antofagasta from Chile.
For its part, Unión de Santa Fe, in group H, will face Junior from Colombia, Oriente Petrolero from Bolivia and Fluminense from Brazil.
Group D is made up of San Pablo from Brazil, Jorge Wilstermann from Bolivia, Ayacucho from Peru and Everton from Chile.
Group E will be played by Inter from Brazil, DIM from Colombia, 9 de Octubre from Ecuador and Guaireña from Paraguay.
The group stage of the Copa Sudamericana 2022 will be played from Tuesday, April 5 to Thursday, May 26. The top eight from each zone will advance to the round of 16 and will face the eight third-place finishers in the Copa Libertadores.
