The PCB presidential candidate, Sofia Manzano, started her electoral campaign tonight (16) with a meeting at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) of the University of São Paulo (USP). Among the topics discussed were agribusiness, financial capital and administrative reform.
The candidate reiterated the criticism against the legislative proposal that intends to charge tuition fees in public universities. Earlier in the afternoon, Manzano gave an interview to the website Diálogos do Sul.
Sofia Manzano is a professor and economist. The slate’s proposals cover the repeal of reforms and “all neoliberal legislation contrary to the interests of workers, youth and the poor population”, which includes the Fiscal Responsibility Law of the spending ceiling.
The tax reform defended by the party is “progressive”, taxing profits and dividends, large fortunes, inheritances and financial transactions, in addition to exempting those earning up to five minimum wages from the collection of income tax.
According to the electoral calendar, as of this Tuesday, candidates are authorized to carry out electoral propaganda on the internet and rallies with sound systems. The broadcasting of electoral propaganda on radio and television, for the first round of the elections, will begin on the 26th. It will end on the 29th of September.
