Social Policy Cabinet agrees to be able to rebuild homes

The Social Policy Cabinet and the National Federation of Workers in the Construction, Wood and Construction Materials Industry (Fenticommc) signed a cooperation and collaboration agreement for the execution of the program “Transforming My Country”an initiative with which the Government plans to directly impact thousands of families nationwide with the reconstruction all of their homes.

With the agreement signed by the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Pena, and Pedro Julio Alcantarageneral secretary of Fenticommc, both entities are committed to joining forces to develop actions for the proper execution of the housing reconstruction program.

The cabinet will ensure that the construction materials and equipment necessary for the execution of the project are purchased at the hardware stores of the surrounding areas to the intervened houses, in a transparent process.

“This program that delivers bonuses from 50 thousand up to 150 thousand pesos for the reconstruction of houses also pays attention to the small merchants of all the municipalities of the country, to which this initiative will reach, thus helping even more the population in situations of poverty and social vulnerability of the Dominican Republic”, said Tony Peña.

For its part, FENTICOMMC made a commitment with the Social Policy Office to locate skilled and appropriate personnel to belong to the worker brigades that will participate in the execution of the “Transforming My Country” program, as well as to form work teams with profiles and human resources requested by the institution and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the signed commitment letters.

“With this agreement that was signed here, Tony not only fulfills the dream of hundreds of Dominicans of having their own home, but also honors his father, José Francisco Peña Gómez, for everything he did for the workers of construction,” Alcantara said.
