The Ministry of Justice approved the Resolution No. 171/2022 that updates the rates for the collection of legal services and their modalities to foreigners, Cubans permanent residents abroad, foreign legal entities, as well as for legalization of documents that take effect outside the national territory, according to official media on the Island.
According to the Extraordinary Official Gazette No. 23 of March 30, 2022the modification takes as a reference the experiences of the application of Resolution No. 48/2021 (now repealed) and aims to adjust the nomenclature of some matters for the better understanding by citizens of its scope and includes services that are requested and are not regulated, points out a publication of the official gazette Granma.

In addition, the obtaining and legalization of the criminal record certification is extended to take effect outside the national territory to other specialized law firms that have the conditions to provide this service, since until now it was only provided by the International Legal Consultancy. The services under this resolution are assistance, advice, consulting, legal direction and procedural representation, said source refers.
Involves matters related to negotiation and procedures in the real estate branch, in terms of finances and investments, insurance, intellectual property, accounting audits, immigration procedures, obtaining and legalizing documents, legal consultations and others.
The norm now in force establishes the payment modalities for the legal services provided, such as the minimum hourly rate (between 3,700 and 5,000 CUP), the fixed rate for certain matters, and confers powers to the president or general director of the entity that provides the service to increase them according to certain requirements.
According to the annex published with the resolution, in the case of fixed fees for specific matters, they range from 25 CUP (Payment for each page of the description, claims and drawings in excess of 30 pages in services related to invention patents) , up to 47,000 CUP (Presentation of a lawsuit before the People’s Supreme Court that includes legalization and protocolization of documents in Cuba).
