A group of passengers “took” a Sky airline plane this Thursday afternoon at the Santiago airport as a protest measure after the aircraft did not take off for its destination, Bogotá, Colombia.
The plane was supposed to take off at 8:00 a.m. from Santiago to Colombia, with a previous stopover in Peru, but a stoppage by officials in the neighboring country caused the flight not to leave.
According to what the people present on the flight reported through social networks, the company told them that “they cannot fly over Peruvian airspace.” However, they reported that other airlines were using the same route as them.

Not having the information on the case, they decided to stay inside the plane to wait for a response from the company.
“They put us back on the plane, we were in the waiting room. Then they told us, already inside the plane, that they had not been given authorization to change the route, but they were asking for it at 8 in the morning “said one of the affected people to Radio Biobio.
rescheduled flight
From Sky they issued a statement regretting the situation, accusing external reasons.
The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) pointed out that “cancellation responds to the fact that the route of said flight had to pass over Peruvian airspace, which was not authorized shortly before takeoff, due to the strike of the Unified Union of Controllers of Air Traffic of Peru”.
In addition, they reported that the flight was scheduled for tomorrow, Friday.
Regarding the affected crew members, they maintained that “they were given food, transfer and accommodation services due to the inconvenience caused by this situation of force majeure that is beyond our control.”
