Iván Cepeda denounces President Duque and seven mayors for alleged participation in politics

The President of the Republic, Iván Duque, was denounced by the senator of the Polo Democrático, Iván Cepeda, for a case of alleged participation in politics.

The congressman instituted said legal action against the head of state, before the Investigation and Accusation Commission of the House of Representatives, for the crime of intervening in politics during the current presidential campaign.

Similarly, it considered that the constitutional and legal prohibition of intervening in politics, the president of the Colombians has made public pronouncements repeatedly.

“Because of the manner in which he has carried out these interventions, it can be inferred that his conduct has been malicious, since, knowing that he cannot intervene in politics, has resorted to trickery to try to evade his responsibility, avoiding mentioning the name of candidate Gustavo Petro,” added the legislator.

For the opposition congressman, during the National Congress of Municipalities, which was recently held in the city of Cartagena, some municipal mayors openly intervened in politics in favor of Federico Gutiérrez.

Senator Iván Cepeda also asked to investigate seven other local leaders, who apparently intervened in politics in favor of presidential candidate Federico Gutiérrez.

“In short, the mayors and the mayor have used their investiture to make him campaign for the presidential candidacy Federico Gutiérrez”, said Congressman Cepeda.

The other mayors of the country denounced are, among others, San Juan Nepomuceno (Bolívar), Wilfredo Romero; Timana (Huila), Marco Adrián Artunduaga; María La Baja (Bolívar), Raquel Victoria Sierra; Cicuco (Bolívar), José́ Nicolás Ramos; Santa Rosa de Lima (Bolívar), Mario Javier Rodríguez; Arenal (Bolívar), Eugenio Lobo and Villanueva (Bolívar), Edwin Puerta.
