The Superintendent of Health and Occupational Hazards, Jesus Feris Iglesiasreported this Tuesday that the proposal that seeks to reduce the maximum amount that affiliates must pay for differences from two minimum quoted salaries to a single minimum quoted salary in hospitalization services is still in process.
On June 13, the Superintendence of Health and Occupational Risks (Sisalril) developed a proposal that seeks to impact the reduction of out of pocket of affiliates and increase coverage by the Health Risk Administrators (ARS).
The superintendent argued that, for the beginning of the Contributory Regime, the affiliates had to pay a maximum difference of RD$11,270.00, however, since this limit is subject to the current minimum quoted salary, today, it represents an amount of RD$32,525.00, raising this difference by 288%.
“The reduction of two payments to one payment is for hospitalizations, surgeries, transplants, spending and hospitalization for patients with serious illnesses that we are negotiating with the ARS for them to take on the problem”, declared the doctor.
The purpose is to achieve “that the patient who has to hospitalize a relative pays a single minimum wage, which is already enough, but that is progressing, as soon as the indexation is signed, that we are analyzing the amounts, it will be established,” he said. Feris Iglesias.
Subsequently, after negotiations, it will be sent to the National Social Security Council (CNSS) for a ratification.

The doctor Feris Iglesias emphasized chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertensionensuring that up to 50% of those affected do not know that they suffer from any of these conditions.
He assured that the basic Social Security plan is mandatory for all Dominicans who live in the country and foreigners who live legally, therefore, there is no type of condition that stops security, including pre-existing diseases.
“In the Sisalryl We are studying the way to set a reference price per molecule, it is not a price control (he clarified), so that Social Security pays a certain amount for hypertension medicines and a certain amount for diabetes medicines. Thus, everyone who is insured can have the ease of obtaining their medicines without having to take out of their pockets or a difference in relation to the reference price”, he detailed.
