The new provisions that will regulate vacation periods for workers, in accordance with the reforms approved by the Congress of the Union, will now enter into force, since President Andrés Manuel López Obrador signed the corresponding decree for publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
During his conference, the president stressed the importance of this provision, which will improve the working conditions of workers, so that they have the possibility of being more with the family; family life helps a lot
.
–One of the complaints, especially from micro-entrepreneurs, is that it is going to be very difficult for them to sustain these vacations for their employees… Is there a program that you are considering to support these companies?
–Of course there is support, which consists in the fact that there are more sales and more profit, because there is growth. What is the endorsement? Well, do not raise the prices of electricity, gas, gasoline, diesel, or increase taxes. That is to say, it is not like before, of, let’s see, we have to tighten our belts; the people tighten their belts and the government wastes, there are luxuries, there are privileges in the government
not.
On January 1, 2023, the decree based on which the new vacation scheme in Mexico is regulated, whose minimum period goes from six to 12 days a year, comes into force, a right that can be taken as best suits the worker.
In the text of the decree, published yesterday in the evening edition of the DOF, It is indicated that the modifications to two articles of the labor law will be applicable to individual or collective contracts in force on the date of their entry into force, whatever its form or name, as long as it is more favorable to the rights of workers
.
Meanwhile, the Citizen Movement in the Chamber of Deputies celebrated yesterday the publication of the decree on the so-called dignified vacations, since this will allow that from next January 1st they can enjoy 12 continuous days of vacation, instead of six, when they meet the first working year.
As a promoter of the reform of the Federal Labor Law, the orange bench recognized the consensus reached among all the parliamentary groups in the Union Congress, business organizations and unions, since it allows paying off a historical debt of more than 50 years in terms of labor rights.
