This morning, two earthquakes were felt in the Arica and Parinacota region, prompting monitoring by the Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOA), who ruled out a tsunami alert for the Chilean coast.
According to the National Emergency Office (Onemi), the first telluric movement was of a magnitude of 5.0, with an epicenter 116 km northeast of Arica.
#SHOA indicates that the characteristics of the #earthquake of magnitude 5.0, located 116 km NE of Arica, do NOT meet the necessary conditions to generate a #tsunami on the coasts of Chile.
