The spokesman for the bloc of senators of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD)Aris Yván Lorenzo, considered that the Government and its affinities try to “confuse” the population with the approval of the project of Escrow Public.
Qualifying it as a shame, Lorenzo claimed that said project would be governed by Law 340 on Public Procurement and Contracting.
“What a shame! The champions of transparency try to confuse the population, defending the letter of marque approved in the Senate with the Public Trust Law, making them believe that abiding by the “principles” of Purchasing is the same as in accordance with Purchase Law”, he wrote on his Twitter account.
The representative of the province, Elías Piña, has stated on different occasions his rejection of the approval of the Public Trust Bill, assuring that it has as its ultimate interest to hand over the Punta Catalina thermoelectric plant to the private sector.
This position is also supported by the opposition PLD, who denounced that the initiative approved in the Upper House threatens the institutionality of the Dominican Republic and allows the creation of a parallel government.
“With this Law, the Government of the Modern Revolutionary Party wants to deal a mortal blow to the institutionality of the country; because it allows the creation of a parallel government, exempt from the laws and regulations for the use of public funds, ignoring the need to comply with the laws”, he indicated.
