Number portability: Claro was the biggest beneficiary in 2022

Claro was the operator that benefited the most in 2022 since number portability was implemented on January 12 of last year.

The operator won 20,900 customers and lost 18,298, so it ended with a balance in favor of 2,602according to the Report on Number Portability in Uruguay published by the Unit Communication Services Regulator (Ursec) this Tuesday.

Claro surpassed Antel, which, although it also gained clients, had a smaller margin. The state company had a profit of 399 people, with 28,757 new customers and 28,358 who left.

The loser of this implementation was Movistar since it was the only operator that did not gain customers. Total, lost 3001 users, having had 24,508 applications to join the company while they left 27,509.

How many people requested number portability?

In 2022 there were 179,785 requests for portability. Of that total, 73,761 portations were done successfully34,074 were rejected by the Database Administrator (ABD), 69,309 They were rejected by the donor company and 12.77 were from non-active lines.

There are 404 requests on the agenda, 180 that have already been approved by the donor, 145 that have already been requested but have not yet been scheduled, four pending disconnection, and one that was cancelled.

March was the month with the most change requests with 11,260 in total, while January, with almost 4,000 requests, was the month in which people were least interested in switching.
