Senator Carrera considers the crime figures “alarming”

The senator of the Broad Front Charles Carrera considers that the latest figures of crimes issued by the Minister of the Interior Louis Albert Heber on Friday night, they are “alarming”.

The former director of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Interior in the government of the Broad Front, he also assured that there is an increase in crimes related “to the return to activity after the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The MPP legislator questioned Heber and told Underlined this Saturday, after analyzing the crime figures for the first half of 2022, that the minister has to stop making “triumphant statements” because the figures “are not at all optimistic.”

The figures for crime reports in the first quarter of this year indicate a 33% increase in homicides, 3.2% more thefts, 6.3% fewer robberies, 11.2% more cases of domestic violence and 16.3% fewer cattle rustling..
