Senate votes Accountability after reassignments of the Commission

This Monday began the vote in the plan of the Chamber of Senators of the 2021 Accountability project. The vote took place after the text passed through the Budget Commission integrated with the Treasury of the Chamber, an instance where the legislators made budget resignations that promise, if the law is approved, higher revenues for some public items.

After the Commission’s deliberation, the Accountability project promises US$ 240,000,000 million for the year. In this sense, the main “winners” were the items of salary increases and education, with a total of US$71 million and US$51.8 million, respectively.

Education

As far as salary increases are concerned, with the more than 70 million dollars, it is expected to cover various areas of the public sphere. The agreement on the issue took place after the senators agreed to establish a salary recovery formula.

With regard to education, whose estimated figure was US$51,888,805, the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) received the most reallocations (US$30,731,707). This was justified by the legislators in the reform process that the entity is going through.

For the University of the Republic (Udelar) the increase was US$6,829,268 and for the Technological University (UTEC) US$1,614,634. The rest of the money goes to the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) with US$4,146,341; subsidies with US$614,634 and various credits with US$7,170,732.

Innovation and Health

On the other hand, the reallocations foresee an increase of US$ 28,502,439 for the area of ​​innovation and US$ 26,885,346 for health. In the last category, it is divided into US$ 2,634,146 for the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and 24,251,220 for the State Health Insurance Administration (ASSE).

justice and control

The reallocation project foresees an increase of US$ 6,643,268 for the item of Justice and Control. This includes divisions such as the Judicial Power (US$3,085,366), the Electoral Court (US$243,902) and the Prosecutor’s Office (US$2,440,829). This also includes the Court of Accounts (US$746,341) and the Transparency and Public Ethics Board (US$126,829).

Other assignments

In the chaos of the Ministry of the Interior, the reassignment was US$45,743,902, while US$11,645,122 were allocated to items of a social nature. For the Ministry of Development, the increase was US$7,206,098 and it was US$853,659 for the Ministry of National Defense. They reassigned US$1,024,390 to the National Institute for the Social Inclusion of Adolescents, US$2,439,024 for the Presidency, while US$975,610 were for various credits.
