Senate grants permission to Lugo for 60 days with pay

Óscar “Cachito” Salomón, president of the Senate, reported that Fernando Lugo has made positive progress regarding the Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) suffered on August 10. However, because he needs a recovery period, he applied to the plenary for a 60-day paid leave.

Since, in his capacity as president of the Chamber, he cannot make the request, the motion was presented by the second vice president, Hermelinda Alvarenga, a senator for the PLRA. “I take this opportunity to ask for his speedy recovery,” said the legislator.

Legislators unanimously approved the request.
