The parliamentary committees of the Senate agreed today to table the Comprehensive and Progressive Treaty of Transpacific Partnership (CPTPP, better known as TPP11) for this Wednesday, September 28.
According to the agreed scope, the project -which has generated division between the two government coalitions: Democratic Socialism and I Approve Dignity- will be the first item on the table on Wednesday.

Let us remember that senators from Approve Dignity issued a letter last Wednesday. In it they pointed out that “the TPP11 is not part of our government program and we consider that there is no urgency to put it to a vote in the Senate.”
From the Government, they have stated that they will not oppose its processing in the Senate. “The Senate has the powers to put it on the table and make a decision on it. Depending on what the Senate decides, we as a government have the duty to protect Chile’s interests,” said the President. Gabriel Boric.
From Democratic Socialism have been in favor of the TPP. It is the case of the senator Ricardo Lagos Weber (PPD). In turn, former foreign ministers of the ex-Concertación issued a letter over the weekend in which they give their “strong support” for the Senate to ratify the project.
