The text includes in the National Security Policy the National Plan for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women. The PNSPDS was created in 2018 and governs the organization and functioning of the bodies responsible for public security. The project was created with the aim of reducing the alarming numbers of violence against women in the country and creating State policies to combat this violence, without depending on the political will of specific governments.

“Violence against women is a very serious drama in our country. We want to stop this brutal clock, which records that a woman is murdered in Brazil every two hours”, said the project’s rapporteur, deputy Mara Gabrilli (PSDB-SP), in her opinion.

“Every day, 12 women lose their lives. Statistics also point out that every two seconds, a woman is a victim of physical or verbal violence in their homes, in their places of work and study, and on the streets of Brazilian cities”.
