Santo Domingo.- The National Health Insurance (Senasa) invited holders who have dependents who have reached and are about to reach the age of majority, in the Contributory Regime of the Family Health Insurance, to include them at no additional cost, up to reach the age of 21.
“ Nearly 10,423 young people (dependents) are about to turn 18 in the coming months, so we are asking the holders to verify the status of their dependents so that they can keep them within their family nucleus, that is, keep your health insurance,” said the coordinator of the Health Management Office, Dr. Gustavo Guilamo.
He stressed that more than 600 members is the projected number that would reach the age of majority only of the National Police in this last four months of the year.
The official recalled that Law 87-01, which creates the Dominican Social Security System, in its article 123 on the benefits of affiliates in the Contributory Regime, establishes that children under 18 years of age will benefit from the Family Health Insurance , and those who are past that age, while they are students, will be able to continue with their health coverage until they are 21, “as long as they exhaust the process that is merited in these cases.”
The Senasa coordinator specified that in the event that they are already 21 years old or older, and have not yet started working and are financially dependent on the holder, they can make an additional contribution with which they guarantee their coverage.
He explained that, for those dependents between 18 and 20 years old, only a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the identity card and a proof of study corresponding to the current period, in Spanish, is required.
