From today gasoline drops: how much less does it cost to fill the car’s tank

As of this Thursday, September 1, a reduction of $3 in the price of Super 95 gasoline is in force. This is the first drop so far this year, and the second since mid-2021 when the monthly mechanism began to take effect rate setting based on the Import Parity Price (PPI).

That descent makes filling the tank of the car be on average $135.6 cheaper than it was in August.

This calculation is based on a 45-liter tank and takes as a reference the Super gasoline that began to be sold at the stations at $77.88 per liter. Today $3,504 is needed to acquire that amount of gasoline.

The new rates

the naphtha Super 95 dropped $3 per liter for the consumer (-3.7%), going from $80.88 to $77.88 per liter.

The price of Common diesel remained unchanged and its price to the public remains at $64.99 per liter, the same as the 10S ($73.3).

Besides, the Premium 97 gasoline fell from $82.85 to $79.85 per liter.

While, the price of supergas (LPG) remains at $63.35 per kilo. In this way, the 13 kg bottle has a cost to the public of $823.55 (without shipping). The price of this product will continue to be frozen until the end of September for the entire population, as announced by the government on May 17.

“As a result of a tariff policy that reflects the reality of the international market, the Executive Branch decided to lower the price of most fuels. The decision is based on the decline in international fuel values reflected in the PPI indicator for the last month”, stated the official statement from the Ministry of Industry and Energy (MIEM) this Wednesday.

In the case of diesel and supergas, as international prices remain above the current retail price, it was decided not to make any changes.

“The government will continue to monitor the volatility of the international energy market, without neglecting Ancap’s equity and financial situation,” the MIEM added.
