SEN Minister will continue with the legacy of predecessors

Gladys Zunilda Borja Aveiro, was appointed as the new minister of the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) last Thursday. In an interview with the 5Días channel, she expressed that her goal will be to contribute to the most needy.

“I have high expectations and a very important challenge for me, it’s my turn at a time when I feel I can contribute to those most in need in situations of vulnerability, the best of me,” he said.

Borja Aveiro is a native of San Pedro, is known as “Zuny” and is a lawyer and teacher by profession. In recent years, she has served as a diplomat at the Paraguayan embassy in Chile.

On February 24, Miguel Kurita was appointed as head of the SEN office by Mario Abdo Benítez, President of the Republic. This, after the dismissal of Joaquín Roa. The then minister’s yacht was seized after an anti-drug operation, because the means of transportation was acquired from a company linked to drug trafficking.

GOOD TEAM
During the interview, the new head of the SEN highlighted that she has a great work team. It is headed by Miguel Kurita himself, who ceased to be in charge of the office to return to being chief of staff.

“I found a wonderful team of people committed to the institution. We will coordinate the work. We will give the best of our efforts for a quick response. We are also going to work on the prevention and response to adverse events. As an institution, we have the mission of establishing the programs according to that structure”, he stated.

OBJECTIVES
Regarding its objectives, it stated that it will seek to strengthen institutional capacities in favor of citizens to fulfill its institutional mission.

“In this new administration, I set myself the goal of strengthening institutional capacities. This implies involving all sectors committed to risk management. For which we are going to continue generating strategic alliances from the SEN with state guarantor institutions, with civil society and with international organizations”, he explained.

Borja Aveiro affirms that for institutional strengthening, and to reach every corner of the country, he will work to encourage citizen participation.

“There are many things that are being done well and we are going to support everything else. The president told me that he is going to give me the confidence to lead the institution. The SEN is an entity that shows the State’s rapprochement with the most vulnerable sectors”, he commented.

Finally, she said that they will seek to work with the same impetus as those who preceded her.

“There are many things that are being carried out. My intention will be to support all the good that is being done, ”she commented.

MORE DETAILS
Until now, the new minister worked as a counselor at the Paraguayan embassy in Chile.

With his appointment, he will replace Miguel Kurita, who took over as head of the institution’s office since February of this year, when the previous minister Joaquín Roa resigned.
