Doha, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) FIFA president Gianni Infantino denied here today, at the organization’s Congress, that there was a proposal to organize a World Cup every two years.

The Swiss-born leader clarified that the previous conclave approved a feasibility study for the idea, which concluded that it was feasible, and will now be followed by a phase of consultation and debate “taking into account leagues, clubs and players.”

TENNIS

Miami, USA (Prensa Latina) The surname Cerúndolo resonates today among Argentine tennis fans thanks to the unprecedented performance of Francisco, the older of the two brothers, at the Miami Open.

The 23-year-old went from anonymity to standing up for his country’s players in the second Masters 1000 tournament on the ATP circuit this year, and his presence in the semifinals is a source of joy but also amazement.

SOCCER

Mexico, March 31 (Prensa Latina) The joy that qualification for the World Cup always leaves is overshadowed today in Mexico after the mediocre and unstable performance of the team in the Octagonal Final of Concacaf.

The 2-0 victory against El Salvador the day before to close the World Cup tie was insufficient for the loyal but demanding tricolor fans to be optimistic ahead of the first FIFA World Cup to be held in Arab territory.

BASKETBALL

Washington, March 31 (Prensa Latina) The Miami Heat got the best of their game and got a valuable away victory in Boston to consolidate their leadership in the disputed NBA basketball Eastern Conference today.

The 2020 starters sent a message of their intentions to the rest of this year’s contenders with a surgical game, where each player from the Floridian quintet displayed their best performances to achieve a 106-98 success against an inspired Celtics.
