The resident coordinator and representative of the secretary general of the United Nations Organization in the country said that it is urgent that there be action in Haiti against the gangs that are making the situation in that nation increasingly critical.
Mauricio Ramírez Villegas assured that there are sectors in Haiti promoting criminal gangs, groups that feed these groups financially and militarily with weapons and ammunition.
“It is not a simple social revolution, we know what is behind all this, interests and flows that obey other interests,” said Ramírez Villegas.

“We hope that there is a force that can mitigate these actions in Haitian society,” he said.
He reiterated that “these illegal actions deserve an international response.”
He said that work must first be done to stabilize security, which is so complex and causes so much damage.
He warned that the Haitian situation also affects the Dominican Republic.
He also referred to the creation of a special fund to strengthen the Haitian police.
Ramírez Villegas said that they expect a good response from the countries for the benefit of Haiti to achieve stability.
He also advocated the implementation of an action that strengthens the capacity of the Haitian State to respond to the crisis that the nation has been going through for several months.
He said that the UN Security Council will have to analyze and make a decision regarding what is the best way to respond to that situation.
He stated that there should not be a return to the scheme of the past as the force for peace, but rather an alliance between countries committed to the development of Haiti, in order to carry out a more effective response.
He said that at the time the request made by the Haitian Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, should be met.
