Satdjian reported that infant mortality dropped considerably

In this context, the Undersecretary of Public Health, José Luis Satdjian, reported on infant mortality figures that maintain the downward trend.

The mortality rate per 1,000 live births in children under 1 year of age in 2018 and 2019 was 6.8% and decreased to 6.2% in 2020 and 6.3% in 2021.

As for children under 5 years of age, the rate per 1,000 live births was 8.4% in 2018 and 8.5% in 2019. It drops considerably in 2020 to 6.9% and stands at 7.5%. in 2o21.

“Despite the pandemic, the figures remained stable with respect to 2019 and in some aspects they decreased considerably,” Satdjian reported.

“This is news that comforts us and forces us to continue working along these lines so that infant mortality in our country continues to decline. We have to move forward with this policy that must be worked from various aspects, from social development, from health providers, from INAU and education, “said the Undersecretary of Public Health.
