Retailers in São Paulo are more optimistic about sales for the month of October. The expectation of the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP) is that sales will grow by R$ 800 million this month, compared to the same period last year, mainly because of Children’s Day. This would indicate, according to the federation, an increase of 4% compared to October 2021.
According to the federation, Children’s Day has little influence on retail, but it has an impact on sales movement in the days before the date, affecting sales segments of toys, clothing and even electronics. Another reflection of Children’s Day, informed the federation, is the anticipation of purchases of Christmas gifts, as consumers usually find more attractive prices at this time of year than in December.
FecomercioSP also estimates that Children’s Day could boost other areas, including shopping malls.
