The director of Security and Coexistence of the Ministry of the Interior, Santiago González, communicated by WhatsApp with the former head of presidential custody, Alejandro Astesiano, and highlighted a message among all: “To be a minister I must do things well”said.
He made this comment on September 9, 2022, at around 10:48 p.m., after asking him if the president, Luis Lacalle Pou, knew of a man murdered that day on the Cerro de Montevideo.
A while earlier, at 10:17 p.m., they started talking. González consulted the former custodian for a crime committed on the Hill. “The mother says that she is known to LP (…) It is so (…) That they played soccer together,” asks the director of Coexistence in three WhatsApp messages, according to publications released by MVD News.
The former head of presidential custody responded with an audio requesting more information, minutes later González would have sent him the file on Pablo Suárez, the man murdered while washing his BMW on the corner of Grecia with Rio de Janeiro.
At 10:28 p.m., he replied: “luxury”, and added two minutes later that Lacalle Pou was already “looking” if he knew the deceased.
Twenty minutes later, Santiago González thanks him and comments: “to be a minister, I must do things well.” Laughing, Astesiano responds with an audio in which he comments: “The one I told you is in the oven,” referring to the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber.
He says it’s a joke
Citing a chain of tweets from MVD Newswhere they presented this exclusive news, Santiago González said that he is “enormously ashamed that someone believes that this is journalism.”
And he added: “I made a logical query since the President was in a meeting about a person who claimed to know him and it ended with a joke. I work every day so that @Luisaheber (Luis Alberto Heber) is an excellent Minister of the Interior”.
“This is a lie. I did not have fluid conversations with Astesiano. It’s not worth everything. There is no free card to say any nonsense and even less to lie. Journalism is wonderful, a fundamental pillar of all democracy, a pity that they are destroying it with such baseness, ”he added in another tweet.
In statements to the press, the security chief asserted that it was “a joke.”
