The fifth wave of Covid-19, officially declared since the beginning of June 2022, it continues in de-escalation in the department. Today, Saturday, August 20, they registered 225 positive cases, distributed in 10 municipalities of Santa Cruz.
The latest report from the Departmental Health Service (Sedes) indicates that Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the municipality with the most infections, with 199, representing 88%, followed far behind by Warnes with 10.
It also reports that the positivity rate of the total of more than 1,500 tests processed is 15%, clarifying that the laboratories do not work entirely on weekends.
Over the recovered from the disease, 924 are counted; while there were no deaths.
The department of Santa Cruz reached one of the peaks of the fifth wave three weeks ago, when it reported 1,592 cases in a single day.
23 patients in intensive care
According to Headquarters data, 23 patients remain hospitalized in intensive care and therapy units in the department’s health system, and 12 are on a ventilator.
