San Cristóbal with more public investment projects

40% of the projects public investment approved by the government in the first quarter of this 2022 correspond to housing and community services, and 22% to sports, recreational, cultural and religious activities, reported the Ministry of Economy, Planning and development.

Regarding the cost for the projects, 79% of the total approved is for the health function, indicates a report prepared by the General Directorate of Public investment of said ministry.

Between January-March, San Cristobal It has been the province with the largest number of approved projects: ten; then the National District and San Juan, with six projects each.

Although five projects have been approved in Santiago, this province has the highest total cost of projects approved by province, representing 53.2% of the total cost for January-March. 79% of this total cost is allocated to the construction and equipment of the Sanitary City, estimated at 36,508 million pesos.

Last March alone, 34 projects were approved for public investment for a cumulative total of 55 projects between January-March.

The total cost of the projects approved in that month was 39,374.3 million pesos and the accumulated cost was 68,966.7 million pesos, tripling the amount approved in 2021 for the same period, reports the Ministry of Economy.

Among the projects approved in March are the construction of the UASD regional university center in Cotuí, for 921.1 million pesos; the repair of the drinking water regulating tanks in Greater Santo Domingo, for 595.9 million pesos; and the restoration of the Faro a Colón monument, in Santo Domingo Este, for 21.2 million pesos.

Also, the repair of the San Francisco de Asís Nursing Home, in the National District, for 29.1 million pesos; the Transfer of capacities project to strengthen MSMEs in the mango and avocado value chains, for 19.6 million pesos; and the remodeling of the government building for the Ministry of the Presidency, for 13 million pesos.
