The sale of pre-owned vehicles was a segment whose sales grew for Grupo Pana, but at a faster rate than the automotive sector in general. According to the company, the increase in sales in 2022 was 18% compared to 2021, a rate that contrasted with the 4.82% registered nationwide in the Automotive industry.
Demand for pre-owned vehiclesboth for private use and for entrepreneurs, and those customers who fulfill the dream of having their first vehicle, has been one of the main factors that has driven the recovery of the automotive sector, according to the head of Grupo Pana’s pre-owned, Antonio Dávila.
The representative of the concessionaire also pointed out that this interested public prioritizes, above all, the speed in the delivery of their unit.
“At the end of 2022, the dealer’s total sale of pre-owned vehicle units grew by more than 10% compared to the end of 2021., at the level of Toyota dealers in Lima, with Hilux, Yaris and Corolla as the top 3 best-selling models, units used mainly for cargo transportation, taxi service and family use, respectively”, said Dávila.
Likewise, as part of the sales segment of the pre-owned line, there is the strategy to attract these vehicles.
As explained by the representative of the dealership, during 2022 the company registered a growth in the uptake of pre-owned vehicles, with Toyota being the brand with the highest participation with almost 70% in the total uptake. The acquisition of pre-owned cars is carried out through direct purchase, part payment and consignment, the second modality being the one with the greatest participation in the purchase volume.
For Dávila, the growth in sales of this line of business is due to the advantages offered by these pre-owned vehicles, compared to the offer in the entire light vehicle market in Peru, such as: the visual and mechanical inspection carried out by the dealer, Direct treatment without intermediaries, more agile procedures and at no cost to the end customer, and immediate delivery of the vehicle.
