“It is wonderful that more than 500 Venezuelan councilors are here today, who are representatives, who are spokespersons in the 335 municipalities that this country has,” he said.

He also invited the councilors and deputies to take the laws of Popular Power and take them to “each town, each street and community”, so that the legal instruments include the “voice of the people, which according to the Constitution is the voice of God”. .

“Chávez and Maduro cannot be the mayors of the 335 municipalities that Venezuela has. You have to have commissions to solve the problems of the communities,” reflected the president of parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.

“Become spokespersons for those needs, for those expectations, so that you force us to permanently discuss those needs (…) In the ears and eyes of that people who trusted all of you, you have days of deliberations left (…) No make the mistake that young people see them differently from them”, he invited.

Defense of fundamental rights

The highest representative of the Legislative Power explained that it is about the defense of the fundamental rights won since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez and continued by President Nicolás Maduro.

“We are talking about the most basic rights for millions of people who, for centuries, were denied, such as the right to life, to education, to health, to culture, to think freely, to territory, to sovereignty and identity”, he added.

He alerted about the deception mechanisms of the Venezuelan right to push back these conquests and once again feel like masters and owners of the country’s wealth. He recalled the threat from the opponent Julio Borges, in 2016, when he proposed to repeal the Great Housing Mission Venezuela, a housing policy that to date has managed to benefit more than four million 500 thousand families with a decent roof.

“We have achieved the millennium goals much more than what the UN had proposed. We have advanced in the rights of our ancestral peoples, women, fishermen, students, cultivators, workers and workers. We have come a long way,” she said.
