Rodolfo Falcón Jr. wins gold in Continental open water

Cuban swimmer Rodolfo Falcón Jr. won this Sunday the gold medal in the 10-kilometer specialty during the second stop of the Pan American Open Water Series, held in Puerto Rico.

Falcón Jr. marked two hours and two minutes, after leading the test all the time, despite the shoulder injury suffered on the previous date, according to a note published by the sports portal Hit.

With more than ten seconds difference, their closest pursuers, the local Christian Bayón, the Mexican Daniel Castillo and the Venezuelan Santiago Bello, reached the finish line, added the report.

Falcón Jr. had previously won the silver medal in the distance of 5 kilometers, covered in 1:11.21 hours, very close to the winner, the Venezuelan Bello (1:11.20) and ahead of Castillo (1:11.21.54).

With these results, the man from the capital was the most outstanding of the exponents of the island who are preparing for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador.

The son of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic runner-up in the backstroke, Rodolfo Falcón, already has a place reserved for this modality in the regional multisport event, which was secured this year during the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships (CCCAN) in Barbados , where he achieved third place in 10 km with a record of 2:01.25 hours
