Rock is solidary: the festival is back Let’s make the child happy

Christmas and solidarity, two elements that come together on these dates, thanks to the motivation that is born in the hearts of people who want to give something more than greetings and congratulations. The spirit of the rockers is not oblivious to this feeling and it is reflected in one of the most traditional and oldest rock events in Santa Cruz: festival Let’s make child happy.

It will be carried out This Wednesday, December 21, starting at 6:00 p.m., at the Musketeers fraternity (Fraternal village). Nine bands will participate: Track, Sacrilege, León Heráldico, Los Salmones, Querembas, Turbión, Alma de Acero, Axioma and Crew.

“After not being able to do it in person for two years, the festival returns this 2022 and there is a lot of expectation among the public, since people are eager to see the musicians,” says Carlos Velázquez, organizer of the festival, who recalls that the entrance is a toy (without wrapping paper) and a non-perishable food, those that will be distributed in children’s homes in the city.

In terms of music, another special return this year is led by the band from Cochabamba Sacrilege, which has participated in various versions of the festival.

The vocalist, Alfredo ‘Chile’ Valdés expresses his satisfaction at returning to the festival and supporting a charitable cause, while recalling that this spirit has always been part of the group, known for the song Ángeles sin alas, dedicated to children without home.

“It is significant for us to be able to be present in the lives of these children. It is something that we like to do and, of course, being able to share it with so many friendly people is something very satisfying. It is the main engine that leads us to continue on this path”affirms the interpreter of Your face in heaven.

For Billy Castillo, from heraldic lion, Participating in the ‘Happy Child’ means a return to the origins, because the band was part of the first versions of the festival and participated in the organization from 1989 to 1993.

“The band never performs one show completely the same as the other. The management of the topics and their order is very organic. In some cases we ‘stretch’ some solos if the guitarists (Lalo Núñez and Glen Vargas) are inspired and then we go back to the song structure. For that there has to be a lot of ‘dialogue’ between those of us who make the base (bass and drums). We are going to play the classic songs with a much more modern sound, but without losing its essence”, indicates Castillo regarding the presentation of León Heráldico this Wednesday.
