The case of the girl Ágatha Vitória Félix, who was shot dead in 2019, had another hearing this Thursday (3). Three witnesses testified in the 1st Jury Court in Rio de Janeiro against the military police officer Rodrigo José de Matos Soares, accused of being the author of the shooting.
The crime took place on the night of September 20 of that year, in Complexo do Alemão, north of the city. The 8-year-old girl was inside a van with her mother when she was shot in the back during an alleged confrontation between the Military Police and drug dealers in the region.
Four witnesses appointed by the Public Ministry (MP) were scheduled to be heard, but one of them was not located. As the MP insisted on the need for the testimony of this witness, Judge Tula Corrêa de Mello scheduled the continuation of the hearing for March 28. On that occasion, in addition to the last prosecution witness, the two defense witnesses must be heard and the defendant must be interrogated.
Only after this last session, the judge will decide if the military police officer will go to popular jury.
