He asserted that said state of emergency has destroyed the economy of a country and “we see no sign of either a reactivation plan or aggressive measures that can lift the national economy.”
Ricardo Lombana, president of the Movimiento Otro Camino Panamá (MOCA) party, provided an analysis of the third year of administration by President Laurentino Cortizo and his government team, stating that this July 1 continues to see an “absent presidency and a country with serious social pressures and protests that are growing and worrying the social and political stability of the country”.
In Lombana’s opinion, the main mistake of this administration is not having understood that they had to govern and make decisions for the majority and instead concentrate – in the midst of a crisis – on governing for a small group.
“The President of the Republic and the National Government, headed by him, if he were connected with the national reality, today they should announce the lifting of the already unjustifiable state of emergency, without reason, without reason. A state of emergency that is too strict, even unjustifiable for many. For this reason, we have requested the lifting of the state of emergency, we have been doing it consistently for more than a month,” he remarked.
