Ricardo Lombana: ‘MOCA does not bind promises, projects, contracts or appointments in exchange for the donor’

The newly elected president of the Movement Another Way (MOCA), Ricardo Lombana, visited the booth of Radio Panama on Tuesday, where he revealed the financing they handle to be able to operate and carry out other activities.

He began by clarifying that he did not receive any subsidy for the 370,000 votes he received in the last 2019 elections. “I was the only presidential candidate who held a press conference after the election to render accounts. I want to see any of those who say that we are financed this way or that, hold a press conference and give an account of how much money they receive, how they receive it; if it is above or below the table and what they spend it on,” he remarked.

Regarding the financing of MOCA, he assured that they have several sources of financing or forms, “we have periodic contributions from our membership. There are private contributions, but as in the previous campaign, with our rules; there are limits on the amounts, in which they cannot be anonymous. I want to make it clear that the Another Way Movement is financed differently, it is accountable and does not bind promises, projects, contracts or appointments in exchange for the donor”.

Lombana also referred to the current administration of President Laurentino Cortizo, declaring that he must lift the state of emergency, since it no longer makes any sense to maintain this state, “he has to get the economy going.”

He asked: “What is the proposal of the Cortizo government to grow and create jobs? To grow the payroll with borrowed money, which is approximately 14 billion what this administration has borrowed and has not been accountable for?”
