This Sunday, May 29, the date on which the Day of the Elderly is commemorated in Venezuela, retirees and pensioners in several states of the country took to the streets to protest to demand a better living condition and good social and salary demands.
For several weeks, this group of elderly people have staged peaceful demonstrations throughout the country to be noticed by the authorities and demand, among other things, that what they receive as a pension be what is established in the Constitution. : the value of the basic basket, which according to the Venezuelan Finance Observatory is around 400 dollars per month.

Lara, Capital District, Aragua, Cojedes, Bolívar, Portuguesa, Vargas, Miranda, were some of the entities that registered the mobilizations of retirees and pensioners. Workers from the education and health sectors were accompanying the protest and who also raised their voices in favor of the elderly.
Slogans, banners and declarations were once again seen in the street action in this sector – in which various political tendencies participated, including the PCV-, which claims to be invisible by the administration of Nicolás Maduro.
The coordinator of retirees and pensioners in Bolívar, José Castellanos, described the day of protests in the country as a “triumph” and added that on May 31 they will go to the Social Development Commission of the National Assembly where they will have the right to speak, so who asked the citizens to accompany them to the Federal Legislative Palace.
