RTA denied that there is a criminal complaint in the labor sphere of Public TV

The Directorate of Gender and Diversity of RTA “flatly” denied having become aware of any “fact compatible with the crime of sexual abuse in the workplace on TV.

The Directorate of Gender and Diversity of Radio and Television Argentina (RTA) “flatly” denied having become aware of any “fact compatible with the crime of sexual abuse in the workplace on TV, or that there is a police report in this regard.”

Given the presentation made by a female worker as a victim of gender-based violence, “the Prevention and Intervention Protocol was launched in situations of Violence and Harassment at Work and/or for Gender Reasons in the field of Radio y Televisión Argentina SE, respecting the Principle of the Greatest Confidentiality in a timely manner”, indicated the organism.

RTA noted in a statement that “The Specialized Team received the complaint and met in person with the worker, confirming her willingness not to file any type of legal complaint, while the defendant was interviewed and their respective union was informed”.

RTA issued the statement as a result of “a publication by the Clarín newspaper regarding events that would have happened on Public TV.”

“We flatly deny having become aware of any compatible with the crime of sexual abuse in the workplace on TV, nor that there is a police complaint in this regard”he pointed.

“The Labor Equity Committee meeting proposes the sanctions that are estimated to correspond, giving way to the administrative instance according to the Labor Contract Law,” added the agency.

Thus, RTA indicated, “the worker is suspended for 29 days without payment of salaries, plus the completion of the relevant training.”

“The main purpose of the protocol is the protection and accompaniment of the presenters, also seeking, if possible, to reeducate the aggressor.”

Likewise, “the Management participated in the meeting convened by the company’s board of directors, where it was unanimously accepted to respect the confidentiality commitment. The contents of the presentation were presented and all questions and doubts in this regard were clarified. The board took the majority decision.

RTA stated that “the publications that affirm the existence of a criminal offense do not correspond to the truth, since the Judicial Power is the only one competent to investigate crimes and at present there is no complaint filed by the victim.”

“There is still much to learn and unlearn in this company and in society as a whole. For this, we continue to work on concrete actions, for a fairer and more equitable society that includes all people,” RTA finally indicated.
