The sales of SME retail businesses due to the arrival of wise men rose 0.8% compared to the same date in 2022, according to a report of the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME).

At the same time, the report highlighted that while 72% of the merchants declared that they had not registered any shortage of merchandise for this special day, 68% reported that they had carried out some special promotion.

Although 50% of the businesses consulted declared that they sold less than expected, 79% more than last year, promotions were a key factor in boosting sales, since 68% of those surveyed indicated that companies did any special offers and helped close the sale.

The average ticket this year was $7,353, according to the survey carried out by CAME on January 6 in 193 businesses in 30 cities in the country, including CABA and Greater Buenos Aires.

80% of the transactions were carried out with a credit card, taking advantage of bank promotions and the Ahora 12 Program

Still, for the manager of Institutional Relations of the Argentine Chamber of the Toy Industry (CAIJ), Julián Beníteztoy sales fell 3.1% due to “an excess supply of imported products of dubious origin.”

“They entered the country in the first part of the year, based on precautionary measures granted by certain sectors of the justice to operators who sought to speculate,” Benítez told Télam Radio, and maintained that the trade moved “towards informal channels, both public thoroughfare such as unauthorized businesses and electronic commerce platforms, which publish uncertified apocryphal products”.

“That reduced billing from traditional commerce,” said Benítez.

80% of the transactions were carried out with a credit card, taking advantage of bank promotions and the Ahora 12 Program, according to data from the CAIJ.
