On Wednesday, September 28, the results of the drug tests carried out were delivered to the parliamentarians of the Chamber of Deputies. The fact kept the far-right community expectant, who were generating an “unusual” activity on Twitter in this regard.
This was stated in the report made by the social network capture and analysis platform Socialtrack, who detailed that 28,000 mentions were recorded that day with the hashtag #TestDeDrogas.
The analysis of this interaction determined that there was a behavior focused on dissemination, since the presence of original content in the sample is only 4%. For this, each user made between 2 and 3 retweets within the analyzed section, and 25 profiles were identified that registered 20 or more retweets each.
The director of Analysis of Socialtrack, José Thomás Fernández, explained that “the sample presents a marked presence of users with a right-wing political tendency, adherents of Rejection, who were active from very early in the morning prior to the delivery of the results.”
“2 of the 3 messages with the greatest impact were made before 7:00 a.m., which shows that this was an issue expected by this community,” he added.
A total of 11 parliamentarians used this hashtag, including deputies Cristian Araya (Republican Party), Leonidas Romero (evangelical and right-wing) and Antonio Coloma (UDI). On the left, Sebastián Videla, Ana María Gazmuri and Natalia Castillo did it.
Thomás Fernández states that in the analyzed sample “a behavior similar to what we experienced during the plebiscite campaign is observed, since after the results are known and there is no positive case, the argumentative or narrative interest is nil, which is reflected in the sharp drop in mentions after 2:00 p.m.”.
49.7% of the answers in the sample were addressed to deputies Marisela Santibáñez and Ana María Gazmuri. In addition, within the use of the same hashtag, the extreme right tried to position other issues, such as criticism of the Chilean ambassador in Spain and others of political continence.
