Reinforcement of the anti-Covid vaccine advances in CDMX amid the increase in infections

Of the 7.1 million adults in the capital, 100% have a vaccine dose and 96% have their complete scheme.

The capital government projects that by January 15, 24% of the population over 60 years of age will have their complete and booster schedule of the Covid vaccine, that is, with three doses.

When various countries thought that the battle against the Coronavirus through vaccination had already been won, new variants appeared that caused new waves of infections, the most recent; the one of South African origin called Ómicron that set the alarms around the world.

To this panorama were added the end of the year festivities and a relaxation of sanitary measures since a large part of the population already had a complete vaccination scheme, which in the first days of January have taken their toll.

Only from December 24 to date, the Capital of the country has not stopped presenting an increase in cases.

According to official data, on December 24, the registry was 2,652 cases, while on January 6, the daily cases were 18,635. This represents an increase of 602%, according to the Daily Report on COVID-19 published by the capital government.

Eduardo Clark, director of Digital Government of the Digital Agency for Public Innovation (ADIP), acknowledged this Friday that positive cases have reached the levels that were recorded at the peak of the second and third waves, although without having the same level of hospitalizations .
