Registration to access scholarships from the Solidarity Fund begins on November 1

Tertiary students from the universities of the Republic (Udelar), Technology (UTEC) and Labor of Uruguay (UTU) may register until February 28, 2023 to access a monthly scholarship from the Solidarity Fund. To grant the benefit for the first time, the institution will consider the socioeconomic situation of the family and, in case of renewal, also the schooling. In 2022, 9,800 supports were assigned.

In dialogue with the Presidential Communication, the Solidarity Fund Scholarship Manager, Cecilia de León, announced that, from November 1, registration will be enabled so that all tertiary students in the country can apply for financial support. In the case of a new registration, the applicant to receive it may not exceed 25 years of age, if they have just entered, while for those who are already studying, the maximum age is 28 years.

The monthly aid of 2 benefit and contribution bases (BPC), which is equivalent, to date, to about 10,300 pesos, is intended for those who study careers at Udelar, UTEC or the National Directorate of Professional Technical Education (DGETP-UTU). ).

To approve the support, the socioeconomic situation of the interested party will be analyzed, while, for renewals, the institution will study the beneficiary’s education. The aid will be granted for a maximum period of eight months to those who request it for the first time and 10 to those who renew it. De León indicated that this year 9,800 scholarships were assigned and that 24% of Udelar graduates received aid. of the Solidarity Fund at some point in his career. 92% of current scholarship recipients are the first generation to access tertiary education in their family, he added.

Applications will be received until February 28, 2023, by registering on the portal scholarships.funddesolidaridad.edu.uy. In addition, the institution enabled a website with campaign details.
